Avoca is a family run lifestyle company that has been operating from Avoca, County Wicklow since the Pratt family bought the village’s disused Mill in 1973. Despite their lack of weaving experience, Donald & Hillary Pratt saw the Mill’s potential and were rewarded as the looms, which had once spun tweed for Elsa Schaparelli’s collections, started humming again and the business took off.
Soon, a small shop opened at the Mill, selling the Avoca brand of rugs, throws and scarves and before long, the number of stores as well as the product range, started to grow.
In the 1990's, Donald and Hillary’s daughter, Amanda created a boutique label exclusive to Avoca, called Anthology. The collection was shown in London and its quirky, playful designs combined with the finest fabrics and handwoven textiles made it an instant success. Avoca Anthology is now sold in boutiques around the world alongside its sister collection, Avoca Origin.
